That's one of the concerns i have with using a pipe (tapered) fitting, you are now essentially forcing a wedge into a potentially fractured aluminum housing....

And as Shores says to put a piece of paper/dollar bill behind both exhaust pipes and see if the paper is pulled back into the pipe, that would be a sign...

On another forum people have stated zip tie the brake lever to the handle bar overnight. (I've never tried it by some say it works)....
