  • help with apes

Hello I'm adding 16 in apes to my bike so I have heard I'll need +11 cables but when it comes to brake lines i cant seem to find one I need. I know the baron kit comes with the cables and brake lines but they are expensive when I can get all the cables cheaper by buying the separate so with that being said I will only need brake line correct from the master cylinder to the joint where the two lines will go to the caliper? has anyone changed this the way I'm planing and do you have a part number for that line. thanks for your time and any info given.

Look for a local vender that builds hydraulic lines. They should be able to fab up what you need.
You may have to provide the necessary end fittings. You should be able to source these from Russell.

TimB can hook you up, and there is a guy on FB, Raymond Chan who also sells lines. Both great people to work with.

Sounds like a project. Those Barons kits are pricey for sure. If you’re making up the brake line you’re thinking about make sure the fitting at the master cylinder end looks exactly like the stock one. The length and bend are important due to the shape of the master cylinder body.

with the apes, you may want a slightly different bend, better to draw it out on paper .. my throttle cable( pull only) goes in front of my shield, which is front of my apes. i got some of my stuff from TimB. i used HD clone bars, and put bar ends that expand like freeze out plugs and stock control boxes and grips throttle. they come in colors or billet alum https://www.chapmoto.com/bikemaster-...yABEgK6RvD_BwE

Check Meancycles.com for your throttle and clutch cables and APEX on FB for your brake line.

I just put 16s on my 07 and I used a goodridge break line part #11330 and goodridge banjo #592-03bk on the master cylinder side and I can’t find the t fittin side box right now I’ll have to look in the morning. Mine fits perfect ran in stock location, but I did have to pull the t fittin and shave the nub. Well I guess you don’t have to but I thought the line would look funny and be at a weird bend stickin out the front or back of the triples. I’ve ran this set up on a couple different bikes now never had a problem. Also I used stock boxes but after market grips.

a lot of us Road Star riders have bought lines from Raymond Chan. They are very good quality, good price, and quickly shipped. You can specify any color or length that you want. Pretty sure he sells them on Ebay as well, but I don't have a link. I have bought 3 lines from him, and all have been great.
