      I’m getting a sputter after shifting out of redline to next gear. I thought maybe plugs. Yamaha mechanic said they look really lean and could burn up bike running it like this....

        Spydr he’s a buddy of mine as well. I’m more concerned about this sputtering or miss I’m getting while working bike in high rpm and just trying to figure out if it’s the plugs or if they’re telling me what the issue may be.

        It feels like after I shift into next gear the bike isn’t getting fuel right away

        Sounds more like a fuel processor or an injector issue to me.
        Obviously I could easily be mistaken, but that's what seems like the source of the sputtering, in my opinion.

      What is your setup? Aftermarket high flow air filter setup? Pipes? Any aftermarket fuel controller in there?

      How many miles? Ever change the fuel filter?

              Ok. Good info. If everything is working properly with that setup you have, the fueling should be correct. I never had a problem with my FI Roadstar and it’s been a few years since I sold it so I’m not sure how much help I’ll actually be.

              However, if there is some sort of restriction in the fueling (plugged filter or gummed up injectors for example), you may have a lean condition. Would be nice if there was some way to check the fuel pressure while you’re riding it to see what happens. You would also need to know where the pressure is supposed to be according to Yamaha to determine if there is a problem.

              A sputter after shifting while you’re getting on it pretty good definitely sounds like not enough fuel for that condition.

                I’m definitely in the limiter zone when shifting. It has no issues there. It’s after I shift out of rev limit into my next gear. There’s a hesitation you can hear it sputter or bog for a couple of seconds. Then picks up

                  Here’s a question...

                  Does it do the stumble thing you’re describing if you’re rolling into it hard but run it not quite to the rev limiter before shifting?

                  Example. Wide open throttle, not quite to the limiter. Shift like normal and right back to wide open throttle. Any stumble or hesitation at this point?

                    When you removed the AIS, did you reuse the metal shims/seals on the cylinder head air injection ports? Not sure if there's a vacuum port on the FI bikes, but if there is and you capped it off, double check the cap. Sometimes they pop off from a backfire.

                      No vacuum port on FI bikes. AIS is all electronic. However, good point on the cylinder head block off plates. Not sure if that would cause a lean condition in the combustion chamber or not (if there was a leak).

                      How exactly did you remove the AIS?

                        I did AIS correctly using barons kit. I reused the metal clips as shown in instructions.

                        I have only noticed this bog or delay after hitting limiter. I am wondering if other FI bikes do the same. Maybe it’s just a delay in the fueling system after it cuts out from limiter

                        normal shifting there is no issue.

                      Put the exhaust baffles back in for better performance and run a tank of Seafoam treated fuel through it. There’s no adjustment you can make. My plugs look the same and I have 54K on mine. Runs great.

                        It’s too quiet with baffles in. Could I drill baffles out a bit?

                            The bike pulls like a freight train. I am just trying to figure out if this bog is normal after I hit limiter with the fuel ink system. I never hit limiter before I did AIS so I don’t have anything to reference too from before

                          I picked up some new plugs and some sea foam fuel additive. I’ll post an update within a few days whenever it stops raining and I can get out

                            Plugs don't look that bad to me....maybe a little lean but nothing terrible. It surensounds liken your banging the Rev limiter and the bike is taking a second to turn spark/fuel back on. If it doesn't don't his under WOT when your a few hundred RPM'S below the Rev limit in wouldn't worry about it at all.

                              That’s what I’m thinking too. From low RPM if I roll it wide open there’s no hesitation. Only when I’m coming out of that rev limiter area

                            An easy test would be to put the baffles back in and see what it does. You can always remove them again.
