I bought a 2013 1700 Roadstar S and I’m wondering about it’s performance. All stock except a KnN filter.
Bare with me here for a bit….My past experience is with 3 different V-Star 1100s. Total miles on them is over 230,000 miles. All 3 had either Slip-ons or 2-into-one exhaust w/KnN filter and jetted to match.
All 3 of them would go from 65mph to around 82mph on a given hill at full throttle, 5th gear all the way. Or from 90mph to a top speed of 105 or so on a given level stretch of road in pretty much the same amount of time.
Why won’t my Roady do any better? On the hill test, it won't top 76mph unless I down shift to 4th gear, then it does does better than the Vstars did in 5th gear. On the 90mph and up test, it's identical to the Vstars. It defiantly performs better in all every day riding, but at only 140lb heavier and 57% bigger engine I would have expected better. I don’t need better, but I’m wondering if this seems right to you guys. Or do I have a problem? Is it because the after market setups on the Vstars did that much for them? What’s your thoughts on this and would doing a baffle mod make much difference? I wouldn’t mind a bit more noise but don’t think I want to go back to the louder slipons and such.
By the way, it only had 3440 miles on it when I got it and is now at 5500 .
THANKS for you input.
