2001 yamaha roadstar silverado oil leak

Does anyone know if oil goes through the decompression solenoid I think it’s called anyway. I found some oil residue under and on that area only and no where else after seeing my oil level was low

Using Oil?? I assume you checked with dipstick? Not a reliable way to know if it is using oil. If you did not follow the proper procedure in cheeking the oil it will freak you out. If you dumped more oil in it it could be over full and you are getting blow by down to the carb through the blow by hose...

I don't think the decomp solenoid would be your issue .... Use brake cleaner and a rag and wipe the underside of motor clean...pay attention to oil drain plug bolt areas, oil filter area.

Look at shift shaft seal and clutch shaft seal...sometimes these small rubber gaskets can leak and oil may well travel down and across bottom of engine..

Look at stator cover area also...clean/wipe.

The let bike run for 5 minutes and shut off and start looking for the leak

Just a reminder, do not use the dipstick to check oil level. These engines don't use or drip oil so there's no reason to add more than the four quarts you put in during the last oil change. The dipsticks are notoriously inaccurate and result in folks putting in too much oil which then blows out through the breather tube that is connected to the rear valve cover.

if you recently added oil and spilled some it will end up in that area. If you have a rubber hose from the rocker cover going down that way it could be the issue. If the hose from the rocker cover is still going into the back of the air cleaner box check to see if you have a small puddle of oil in the air cleaner because that will also end up going down by the decomp solenoid. Also check to see if it smells like oil or gear lube.
