Clutch activating rod seal

I put a new rubber seal on the clutch activating rod which keeps running up the rod and then leaks oil.

Those that have replaced the seal before, have you used a sealant on the base of the seal when installing?

The seal worked fine for about six weeks before this started happening, just hoping it's not a faulty seal.

Four weeks for delivery, minimum, on new parts here in Australia and don't want to miss out on too much of the warmer riding weather.

#11 oil seal (clutch shaft seal)?

Make sure you have it in the right way (there is a spring inside) and drive it in with a socket (12mm I think). If it's upside down or not fully seated it will pop up and leak oil again.

I am sure that it is the right way up, flat surface to the case insert, and I tapped it down with a socket.

Will redo it again today, just wasn't sure if it needed sealant as there is no mention of how to install it in the manual

when you pull the seal out make sure the little spring didn't fall out of the backside and still inside the case. 1 trick to keep the spring in place is to pack a little grease of your choice into the back of the seal over the spring to keep the spring in place. The spring keeps a little pressure on the rubber to make it seal around the shaft. No other sealer is needed
