Even worth trying to salvage? Gas tank

Just bought a Roadstar and noticed a gas leak. After getting through the vinyl wrap and seeing this jb weld. Is it even worthwhile to fix?

Is that a stock tank? Where is the hole located? Can’t tell by the photo.

Its in the right side above the top middle front. Its a pretty significant hole

I see now. Looks like the left front when sitting on the bike. Looks like it was welded too. A good welder could fix it.

If you can find a used tank in the 300 to $400 range that is not dented and has no rust on the inside buy it. But the time you get done dicking around with that one and then taking it to professional etc you're going to have lots of money wrapped up in it and it still an old repaired tank.

its a 2003. Yeah i just rebuilt the carb and is still not running right. Seems like air is getting in and my friend showed me when you spray carb cleaner that it effects the engine idle so that'll need to be replaced. Saw a 500 gas tank on ebay that is rust free/original paint/not a pos so i just bit the bullet

What area did he spray? Try spraying just the intake manifold, you may have a leak there.

500 is a ton but if it's nice it's ok. Can find them 300_400 on FB road star forums on occasion but not all the time.

Yeah but this 1 should match paint better plus the inside looks great. Probably could have been more patient but the others on ebay were either dented to hell or rusted

Tanks are pretty costly these days. I prefer to get them from arid States like Arizona and California
