  • Cutting in and out.

    I recently purchased bad gas, broke down bike was riding awful. Couldn't stay running so I got it home done straight into the carb. Rebuilt it now it runs great had more power than ever adjusted my needle while I was in there.

    ​​​​​​When I have 83 octane it cuts it at 80 mph and with 89 octane it cuts out at 87 no matter the throttle position or hear I am in. I can get the rest limiter in 1,2, and 3 without cutting out but once I got 87 it cuts out whether in 4th or 5th. Have tested this with 5 take off fuel both regular and premium gas and I am stumped. Choke works great always starts great but when it cuts out I have to let off the throttle four a few seconds.

    Dirty fuel filter? Petcock screen clogged? Rollover valve clogged? Fuel pump going out? Carb inlet screen plugged?

      Yep what Lug mentioned. Have you checked float level or float shaft to see if sticking?

        Are you still running a fuel pump? Are the butterfiys on your Hypercharger getting blown shut at high speed? Does sound like some kind of fuel starvation issue. Stick with the low octane fuel, the bikes are designed to run on regular.

          I always ran regular but was cleaning carbs before taking it apart. Used seafoam and higher octane. And never used to but now it runs WAY better on premium. No butterfly's on hypercharger adjusted float level but have not checked petcock will do that. Also have no fuel pump.

              what adjustment did you make to the needle? What groove was the clip in and what groove is it in now? Are you sure the plastic spacer and washer are properly installed on the needle? If the needle is the only thing you changed while cleaning the carb I would go back in and re- check to make sure it is correct. I would also check the float adjustment, It isn't hard to knock it out of adjustment while reassembling the carb. It sounds like a fuel starvation issue to me.

              Your profile says you have aftermarket exhaust and a hypercharger for mods, but it also says that you have all stock carb jetting. if that is the case I'm surprised that your bike would run at all unless you are just shimming the 1 groove stock needle. If that is what you are doing you need to get an aftermarket jet kit and do it right.

                Hypercharger with no butterflies???
                Have the stock air jet in throat of carb (supposed to be changed when using hyoercharger
                What jets are in carb?
