  • Hi comp pistons

So about 6 months ago I found a oil leak on my bike. Found that it was coming from the cam support cover “inner cam cover”. I said screw it and bought wiseco 10.5:1 pistons because I had all the rocker boxes off anyways to deal with my leak. So now 6 months later (about 3 weeks ago now) I finally did all the work. When I did everything I changed the setting on the Dyna 3000 to the advance curve they said for hi comp pistons 32b from 32a curve. This puts the advance higher in the rpm for less chance of detonation. All makes sense to me. But that being the case I feel like the mid range power is just the same and now I gotta ring it out to get more power. So I guess my question is, has anybody ran the 32a or have a better curve to run with hi comp pistons. 2001 1600 speedstar drag pipes thunder mfg. intake, jetted properly and obviously a Dyna 3000. Any help would be awesome.

I have a 110 big bore with 10.25:1 pistons and I have been using 30B and colder plugs and still get a little detonation if lug it at all. I think I might try 28B. Do you have the timing graph to show you how the different curves actually work?

JMO but the JE 10.25:1 pistons are a better piston. In the recent past the weisco pistons have been known to a skirt issue and have been known to self destruct. Hopefully they have taken care of the issue by now

Dave , yes I have timing graph http://www.powercommander.com/downlo...als/D3K7-3.pdf

i was looking for other brands but wiseco is the only one that had some anymore. I have about 600 miles on her now. So I hope everything goes ok.... I have no detonation as of now. I was hoping there was anything I could do. Will say that it has more power at the top.

JE pistons are available thru Pacific coast Star or Patrick Racing. In fact Patrick Racing has any engine mod you want to do. He is the only one that sells the Cams, Big Bore kit and valve springs. When you buy thru PCS they just get it from PR but they are less $$ than on the PR site. The trick is to get it directly from PR but tell them the PCS price and they will give it to you for the lower price. The advantage is you don't have to deal with a 3rd party and Nigel Patrick will answer any questions you may have.
