    Looking to upgrade rear suspension on 07 silverado 1700, with me and wife riding starting to bottom out on bumps.

    First thing you can do is adjust the preload to its max on the stock shock. If that doesn’t do it, then do an easy install of a Roadwing shock which is a modified Goldwing shock that you can buy from smokescreens(Jason). Send him a PM.

      I seen other posts about the roadwing . But wasn't sure if it will still be available, I will try the max preload first. Thanks

      maxing the preload will help, but the shock is still crappy. A Roadwing will make a huge improvement and a set of Racetech springs up front will really help balance it out and make for a far better ride and suspension performance!

        Dont even bother with max preload. Do yourself and your bike a favor and go with the Roadwing. You will not regret it and will wonder why didnt I do this earlier!

          Going to a Roadwing depends some on the rider and passenger weight.

            So weight is I am 235 . Wife is around 200 would it still be wise to go with this roadwing?

            Yes, perfect. I’m 185 and always ride solo. It’s slightly stiff, but I have my bags lowered, so will keep it that way to keep my OEM bag brackets from hitting the drive belt guard.

              Now did you go with the power one or the manual. And I am a auto technician, is this something I could install myself.

                Very easy to install. I'm pushing 300 and I've never had the nerve to ask my wife her weight and it handles us nicely.

                  Very easy to install. Electric pump is cheaper, but harder to find place to install. Manual RAP more expensive, but easy to find a place to mount. I hardly ever adjust my RAP.

                    And, with what Shores just said... I have NO RAP, and have never sensed a need for one. I'm 175, typically ride solo, and yes, it is just a bit stiff, but WAY better than the stock shock. With the 130 lb wife aboard, we never bottom out. No RAP, no issues. Love the Roadwing... definitely one of the best mods we can do for our R*s!

                      You said "starting to bottom out". Did it ride fine before? Check your shock mount at the forward end of the shock and make sure it is not cracked. Even if it's not cracked yet, with riding two up I would weld the verticals to keep it healthy.

                        welcome to the clinic! as far as roadwings go i have one on the shelf ready to go to a good home. looks to me its a factory (or real close) pull off. $310 shipped anywhere in the continental USA. if you want it upgraded to a rap model it will be about $100 more.
