  • A.I.S. Removal and Unknown Attached Vacuum Hose

    Happy Sunday RSC.

Knee deep in some mods thanks to a dead fuel pump on my '05 1700 Silverado RS. Since the tank had to come off to bypass the pump I decided to do a few mods and maintenance I've been wanting to do for a while. In removing the A.I.S. I came across a vacuum hose at the top of the Air Cutoff Valve. It runs up and over the front manifold to the rear manifold then plugs into the top front of the rear manifold. None of the videos I've seen or topics I have read include this hose. Should I plug it? I bought the Baron's AIS mod kit and am waiting for it to arrive this week. I'm not sure if the kit includes a plug for this port or not since Barons uses the same stock photo for their kits. Any help will be appreciated. )Yes, I kept the rectifier/regulator as I read of the problems by removing it.) Thanks for the help. I can include a picture if needed.

The carbed engines use vacuum to operate the AIS.

      Chief,

Something else you may want to consider (if you haven't already) is to remove the stock PCV line from the air breather and route it to a new small breather similar to the one pictured. I connected mine to a bracket i fabb'ed up out of simple aluminum "L" bracket from any big box store and mounted it to the bolts that held the AIS pump (my bike is a 2012 so your results may vary depending on year). I don't have any pics right now to post of the install but it is well worth it if you haven't done it already.

      Cheers
