  • Rear tire replacement - sprocket

I bought a new rear tire, I removed the rear wheel today and I will take it to the shop tomorrow, do I need to remove the sprocket for them to mount the new tire?

Doc here had a very unfortunate experience last year. The shop doing his work didn't get all the spacers returned. I can't say if you need to take all that but I will say be mindful of what is there when you removed the wheel and what's there when putting it back on.

No you don't have to remove the pulley. But make sure you remove the 4-inch long spacer that is inside the hub and any other spacers that are loose because the shop we'll lose them.

I always remove the sprocket and the rubbers when I take my rear to my tire guy.....that way I know I have the parts at my house

I would remove the spacers and such. Take pics or notes so you know how it goes back together. The rotor and pulley don't need to be removed to mount and balance- assuming the shop is careful not to damage anything. The rotor can bend if it's hit too hard. My wheel fell over when I was changing my tire and I bent the rotor slightly. Had to replace it.

I'd remove them just to be safe. It's just a few bolts. Then you can take the opportunity really clean the wheel too. Be sure to torque the bolts and use Loctite when you reinstall.

On the other hand, some might say it's better to balance with the rotor and pulley installed. But I used Ride-On Sealer and Balancer, so it compensates for that.

Thank you all, I end up taking it with the pulley, I did remove the 2 outside spacers. I took pictures just to be sure.
I mounted the wheel today and so far so good, I still need to adjust it since I did not align the wheel properly, will try again tomorrow.
