  • HSR42 setup

    Hello fellas,
This is my first post here and not the last.
Im very happy to join Road Star Clinic forum...
So i have 99 Wild Star witg 240 rear tire, tricky air suspension and now im working on to install and setup HSR42, Dyna 3000, Pingel pumpless, ported manifold and Hypercharger. I decide to install V. O. E. S 3 until the season is over and i can send my carb and new tps sensor to Duke (I read he is the Tps magic guy here)

Im following tips from Robert von Hoorn. Im very happy to meet him in the Facebook group. He helped me a lot with tips. He is a Great Roadstar guy!

    1. What size air jet I need to put on? (see attached pic 2)
    2. Do i need to change the vakve assy needle if im going pumpless? (see attached pic 3)

  • #2
If you are gonna send the carb to Duke for the mod at the end of the season Don't bother installing the VOES. The Dyna 3000 can be used without the VOES or TPS. It will use a less aggressive timing curve than if you had the TPS installed but works just fine. I have a Big Bore built engine with a HSR45 and currently without a TPS. I do have the Dyna 3000 and the bike runs great even running on the less aggressive timing curve.
Also the HSR is already setup to use without a pump so no need to buy a pumpless valve.

    BTW

Thank you for fast response and tips.
Can you tell me about the air jet number?

no idea on the airjet number for the HSR carb. I would call tech support for the HC you have and ask for advice. Most members get rid of the HC's because they are hard to jet for. Most install some sort of universal K/N style air filter

The problem is that in Germany if you want to put something on your motorcycle, the oart must be certificaticated. In Germany my bike with all the parts on it cost around 17000-20000k dollars. So you can understand tge difference between Usa market and the german one. Here is not many parts with certificated, which means if youndont have your bike is not legal

In Germany is Desaster... Belgium and Nederlands you can do wherever you want, but Germany can forget...

On the stock carb I believe they recommend a 1.3 on the airjet with a HC. I'm not sure there is a definite answer for a HSR carb when using a HC.

I looked thru some paperwork I have and the air jet part number for the HSR carb is BS30/97-00 The manual don't say what size it is, it just gives a part number. That is a Mikuni part number out of the HSR tuning manual.

Hi Dave that is the base part number if you look it up they offer several different sizes listed under that base number, even blanks..Its been too long for me to remember which is standard..

                        Hello fellas,
Yesterday was the first test drive and whag i can say: the bike is running like a beast even without Dyna 3000. Dyna will come next week. So the gears longer, better performance and maneuvering. Im very happy, can not ask more.

Bike looks great! Glad you got it dialed in. Ever pull those baffles out of the exhaust and hear it run? Must sound like a beast... Those were common to run on flat tracks back in the 60's and 70's, and I miss that open 'megaphone' sound!

                          Congrats--

That's a fine looking motorbike but a word of caution, the tricky air ride can cause a pogo affect ......................

I know you remember back when a few members installed tricky on their bikes and had alot of issues. Most removed them. Doc had a tricky break down on his trip from Canada to Celina OH and a few guys helped him remove it and install a OEM suspension right in the parking lot so he could get home.

Lug Nut should know this. He's probably sleeping at the moment, a bit early for him in his time zone! Duke may as well, or even davej. All I have to offer is a photo of the switch chart itself. I think you want a 32B, but don't rely on that.
