  • It looks like my bike didn't get one of the four recalls done.

    "Roll over valve exchange" was not completed. The other 3 were.

    I wish that I knew if the oil gear was done with the transmission recall.

    I don't know what the roll over valve problem is.

    Rollover valve just plugs up with garbage and keeps the fuel tank from venting. A lot of guys remove it but then if you lay the bike over it may leak fuel out of the vent tube. best to just remove it to inspect and clean it. I'm not sure what the recall on it was but it may have just been replace and to relocate it to a spot to keep it from plugging up. That is also interesting about the speedo fogging up, I never heard of that one.

      Here is a pic of the 2 oil pump drive gears we were talking about yesterday. Notice the difference in the drive end. The one on the right is the new style and has a much beefier drive end at the base of the fork end. The fork drive is even beefier.         Is there anyway to tell if it's the new one by the gear face? I know the transmission recall was done. I don't know if he had the oil pump gear done at the same time or not.

      Not sure, but I didn't think the oil pump drive was a recall?

        It wasn't, I had to pay for the gear but installed free of course since it was getting torn apart. They did the clutch upgrade for me too after buying that.

        It wasn't that is why it needs to be checked on "ALL" 1600's. Some people say that the 2003's were already updated but that is not true. I have found 2 that still had the old gear in them. When the recall was done most dealerships would install the new gear for you at no charge but you had to buy the gear for them to install. Some dealers would even install stock bore HC pistons at no cost if you supplied the pistons. They had to re-ring the pistons anyway during the recall so who cares if they re-ring old pistons or new HC pistons.

        That wa my mistake was not to pop for the HC pistons. Dealer was awesome to do the gear and clutch though.
