I recently blacked out most of the chrome on my 07 R* 1700, I painted the bars, forks and top clamp but I left the levers and switch covers unpainted. They look good but I've been thinking about replacing the switches, switch boxes and levers with all black Harley Davidson controls. Has anyone else tried this or heard of someone doing this?

found this for an 1100. I found out after buying an wiring extension kit for my new bars, my '12 had 2 more wires that go to the speedo cluster than what the 1100 has, but this should get you well on your way.

harley controls have been used by members in the past. You just have to have the mechanical ability to figure out the wiring. It shouldn't be all that difficult if you do. IMO if you know nothing about electrical just send your stuff out to have it powder coated. That would probably be the cheapest and easiest way anyhow.

As far as the cables and upper hose go, user TimB is the go-to guy on here if you don't have a local guy.

Im going to do this when I replace my 14" mini apes with 18" apes and have to replace the clutch and throttle cable and brake line. I have the Motion- Pro Armor coat stainless cables and Baron Stainless Brake hose now but I want to get rid of the chrome plated stainless on the next set I go with. So I'll definitely be contacting TimB

I have HD controls on mine. I ended up using a Badlands Module and had to extend a wire to the right bar for the Right Turn Signal. I still need to contact TimB about cables since the metric throttle cable are threaded at the control-side, and the HD is a friction fit into the housing. I had some throttle bracket (shown in the photo) in the meantime that fits beside the HD control for now until I get the cables resolved. Initially, I tried a cheap ebay knock-off, but ran into fitment issues. My second attempt was a used set off of a Dyna and they worked better.

I hated the PM controls. I kept hitting the wrong button. I didn't do all of the other mods that you are describing. I still have the dual lines. Your setup will be MUCH cleaner than mine. It's been a few years since I updated the module. I think it was a metric module, but I don't remember for sure. I'll try to dig out the paperwork shortly and let you know if it wasn't the case.

Running light / brake light / turn signal module. "Once hooked up, (see wiring diagram below) the input wires will provide all of the functions the module needs to process RUN/BRAKE/TURN signal functions onto the OUTPUT wires". They've really simplified it.

I know some sites do maintenance this time of year. I sent him a message on here. I had a FB for a little bit but it was dumb and causes to much drama. I know more than one person that's got divorced because of FB drama.Riding Refreshes the Soul!
