  • EBC spring

Does anybody have the correct part numbers for the EBC spring and the gasket I would need when replacing the spring. Is the spring and gasket all I need. 2007 Road Star Midnight Silverado with 33K. Clutch just starting to slip a little in higher gears. Thanks for the help!

I don't have that number but did you see the Barrnett style clutch spring I posted on another thread?

Dave I just looked at the Barrnett style clutch spring. No reviews? What are your thoughts? I'm wondering about the quality and the bearing?

I don't think the bearing is any different than any other Chinese bearing that is used on about everything we buy that has a bearing in it. If you have a concern about the bearing a different bearing can be purchased to install for about $10 or less. Unless you buy a brand specific bearing such as Timken the bearings that we put in the steering head and wheels are likely no more than a Chinese bearing. Also keep in mind it is an oil bath lubed bearing so not much likelihood of it going bad due to lack of lube like a steering head or wheel bearing. If I needed a clutch spring and was considering a OEM or EBC due to finances I would buy /try this one instead for just a couple bucks more. JMO

“Also keep in mind it is an oil bath lubed bearing....”

Just an observation, but I wonder why it’s shielded on both sides?

What is it shielded with? If you are talking about the cover it has slots cut in it all the way around the bearing to allow lube into the bearing. Just guessing but maybe the cover also holds oil inside to keep it from slinging out with centrifical force.

I was commenting on the clutch you linked on Amazon.

They look to be stamped tin shields.

The shield looks like it has holes in it all the way around for oil to enter

On the Barnett it is not entirely closed off. The OEM plate has the bearings fully exposed. Too bad I cannot post pics anymore dang it.

I wouldn't buy that one simply because when you read the description you don't know if you are buying brake pads or a clutch spring as the pic shows. The description describes brake pads.

When EBC first released their clutch spring for the R/S, I had a M/C service & repair shop.I had used EBC brake components frequently always with good results.
I installed their springs in 3 Roadies that belonged to personal friends. That was in 2011 (if I remember correctly). All three of those scooters are still on the road with those EBC springs still performing as designed.
As for my own '00 R/S HotRod, I went with the OE spring for a Warrior. Still doing burnouts on that spring.

NCB, I don't have that EBC spring number, but if you're here in the States, they're easily obtained off eBay for right about $52. I bought mine from there, and it was the cure to my slipping clutch some 3 years ago. I didn't use a new gasket either, I just used a gasket making material in a tube according to the directions, and it sealed perfectly.
