Silverado 2007 2nd hose to airbox please help!!!

My mechanic removed the 2nd hose from the airbox, 1st connects to the carb. He says 99% the 2nd is just venting, not connecting to nothing. Is this right?

2nd is vent from top of cylinder. I have mine routed below frame. Some add a filter and route up along frame under tank.

That hose goes to the top of the rear cylinder head. It provides crankcase ventilation, and is the source of oil in the air box. Most remove and run it up under the gas tank and then down and use an old style breather filter element

If you just leave it like it is, it's going to spit oil all over your engine. Either connect it back to the air box or install longer hose and run it into a filter that just keeps the bugs out. Mine runs up the backbone of the frame under the tank and to a small PCV valve filter right behind the ignition switch. If you remove it, make sure that you plug the port in the back of the air box so you don't suck air in there.

That's great! Also make sure that you only put 4 quarts of oil in the engine versus the 4.3 quarts of the manual says. Usually anything more than 4 quarts will just get blown out that breather too and make a mess. You've got an oil tank that holds approximately 2 quarts so the engine has plenty of oil to run until the next oil change. These bikes do not use or leak oil. The dipstick is notoriously inaccurate so don't use it. Just add 4 quarts and don't mess with it until the next oil change.
