drive pulley seal

After 100,000 miles,I have to replace the drive pulley seal. When pulled the seal, the rubber O ring and the spacer fell out. When I went to reinstall every thing, the book didn't show where and which way the o ring and spacer went. Spacer has a tapered side. Does the o ring fit the tapered end and does the taper go towards the bike or away from it?

The spacer is #17. Looks like the taper is facing out?

The spacer Inside, "ID" taper goes into the case, towards the chain gear.

Not sure which way the out side of the spacer, "OD" taper goes?

looks like flat side goes towards pulley

Duke was correct. The ID has a taper which faces in and the OD has a taper which faces out.
