Wife drives full size vehicle so the tank holds twice as much to dilute the shitty fuel in. Also she doesn’t notice every single misfire like I do when I drive.

Maybe her car is a lease car. Hell you don't even have to change the oil on a lease so bad gas is nothing. lol

If it were mine I would drain the fuel from the tank thru the petcock with a hose. The old fuel goes in the lawnmower or wife’s car. Remove air filter to confirm no nest has been built in airbox. Look in tank with a flashlight and confirm it’s not full of rust. Then dose 2 litres of fresh fuel heavily with (magic) seafoam and pour in tank. Pull the oil dipstick and see that there is oil on it before starting, level can’t be checked until warm anyway. Then I would ride it around the block once or twice then change the oil when she comes home a little warm. I would think if all is good at that time I would rebuild the carb anyway just to save myself a possible fire if the o rings are dried up and leaking. After the carb rebuild fill up the tank to dilute the seafoam and enjoy the ride. Just my opinion, I’m no expert.

Hey thanks for the input! Did no prep - expected to jump on and ride the next week but injuries/physical therapy kept me grounded. Sounds like I'll have to de-gunk the fuel system, change out fluids, etc.

I wouldn’t even try to start it until you remove the fuel tank, clean it totally out, clean the filters on the end of the peacock, clean out all fuel lines, carb bowel, etc. Then put a dose of Techron Concentrate or Seafoam in with new fuel.

    from Solon, IA.

Was there any fuel stabilizer added to the bike before it sat? Might fight some fuel delivery issues caused by crap in the carb from old fuel. But you won't know until you try to start her.

    Startup after 3 yr sit

Hi All - Time to fire up the roadstar after a 3 year sit! I'm injury free now and ready to hit the road. Appreciate any suggestions on prep before hitting the starter button - drain and fill crankcase, etc, etc??? Trickle charger has been on the whole time. Please don't yell at me and thanks!!!
