Metal in oil?

My 08 fuelie has 52K miles. I just changed my Mobile 1 10-40 synthetic MC oil at 5K miles. There was a very tiny amount of metal “dust” on the front magnetic oil drain bolt. Should I be concerned?

Did you ever see a magnet from a car transmission? I'm not sure how much is a small amount vs a large amount in your opinion. Was the oil sparkly with particles? Unless it was completely covered and alot of it I would go on with life worrying more about whats for dinner tonight.

I think if you just avoid hanging your bike upside down you should be OK.

Lots of moving parts, and they all wear just a little. The clutch is your biggest wearing part, and as davej said; ever see a automatic transmission magnet plug when you change that oil?
Don't get gray hair over it, you'll be alright.

You need to take it to my mechanic to have a look. Bet there will be a lot more issues found that will need attention and you won't even care!

I didn’t notice sparklies in the oil but will pay more attention next time. You’re all right....the clutch is probably the item that wears most. I don’t have tinkeritis, so didn’t plan on doing anything about it. Can you give me her phone number grubsie? I think my dipstick needs to be straightened!

I'm sure it's just normal sludge and prob mostly clutch material. It's always there in the oil but you don't notice it UNTIL the magnet holds everything together.

Although the friction surface should be expected to wear away, there IS micro-abrasion of the steels over time that will give you the fine gray sludge on a magnetic plug. If you are not seeing slivers or flakes, drive on.
