Greetings,

I have a '12 RS and have a question about checking and filling the tires with air. It seems to me the tires loose air quicker than any MC or auto i've ever owned. I have yet to check if the valve cores are tight and will do so. The tires are the Michelin C2s and when i go the bike almost 4 years ago they were brand new. I have always had this problem with the tires seeming to loose pressure quicker than expected. The space between the rim and brake disc is small and makes it VERY difficult to check the pressure or fill the tires, total PITA! Does anyone else have this issue? What do you use to check pressure and fill the tires with?

90 degree valve stem is the go to for easier access.

Do the tires have to come off to install them?

Technically I would say no. Just need to break the tire bead from the rim to insert them after the old ones are removed. But given the width of the rim that may be easier said than done. I've done this many times on car/truck/trailer tires but never on a bike.

I bought this 2 pack of 90 degree elbows and hose extensions to make refilling ANY tire...I put one in each bike saddlebag when travelling....not for me but for others who have experienced being completely unable to fill tire at gas station pump. I always put 90 deg valve stems on my Yamahas

The last bike I purchased I was unable to fill the tires at a gas station. With straight short stems on a road liner it is impossible to get the gas station air truck to get in there.

Yeah WTF is Yamaha thinking with this stuff? I can't even get my good gauge on my stems. Tubes, installed with last set of tires.

So you carry that with you and only install it to check/fill tires or do you always leave the brass 90 degree adapter on the tire?

Remove the valve stem cores and install new ones. Make sure they are tight.

Are the tyres tubeless?

If not, you will get a slow leak down through the sidewalls

They are tubeless and i've thought of that. The clearcoat on the visible part of the rim looks good so i was thinking it may not be that. The only way to tell is pop the bead and unless it gets substantially worse i'll wait until tire change time for that.

They also make a low profile 90º valve stem and a 135º adaptor. If I bought an adaptor I would go with the 135º
