  • Can't stop leak from transfere case.

I'm having a huge leak from the bottom of the transfere case itself I have took off the cover cleaned the pin holes thinking residue kept it from fully seating, also inspected and (hopefully im just wrong) felt the o ring was in good enough appearance it should do its job.

The bike had me sitting on it holding it level and doing Sigfriend and Roy tricks to fill new gear oil (80 90) until even the weeping stopped all bolts are extremely tight yet i just went out and there's a hell of a leak on the ground and id cleaned all oil off the bike

is it possible I over over tightened the pulley nut and that maybe pushed too hard on that plate that connects in the transfere case?
Or is the only possibility being that o ring thabks in advance

Don't have much to add here. But a tip, I've seen where you can take a couple of 2x6's about 3 feet long, glue/screw/nail them together. Drill a hole for a bar (crowbar or pipe) and you can make a stand to upright your bike level for things like checking the transfer case. I'm sure a Google search can find some better details.

There are also some oil lines between the engine and upper tank in that area as well. Are you certain this is gear lube and not engine oil?

That has nothing to do with over-tightening the pulley nut. Looking at your photos on a large monitor, it is leaking from under the chrome cover. So not gonna say definitively but its most likely your o-ring.

Do you have the weep hole bolt in??

If you didn't replace your copper washer under the weep hole screw, it might leak from there (but not as much as you're showing). If you aren't able to buy a new copper washer, you can anneal it with a propane torch, and it should work. If you over torqued the screws/bolts holding the cover to the case, you may have warped it. If you have to remove the case, lay the sealing surface of the cover on a pane of glass and look to see if it is warped. If you are lucky, you might be able to straighten any warpage out with judicious use of a deadblow hammer.
