Wet Clutch Oil And Flushing / Lucas vs Motul

Made the mistake of not putting a wet clutch type oil in the other day and am replacing today. I see others have been ok with just draining the old and replacing with the wet clutch type and they seem to be fine..

But also read about flushing first with Liqui Molly flushing agent, running for about 50 miles, then drain, then again put new oil in.

If it is actually necessary to use the Liqui Molly flushing agent, what kind of cheap oil is ok to use with it for the 50 miles, and do I need to replace the filter again after flushing?

All the motorcycle shops except one was open today, I guess because of covid.. They did not have the Lucas that seems to be what most guys use.. They did have a Motul 5100, semi synthetic, wet clutch, 10W40.. Will that be ok, or is it important to actually use Lucas ?

You could also flush with Seafoam or Marval Mystery Oil per instructions on the bottle using your current oil unless you have already drained it. Yes, replace the filter with the new oil.

You will be ok, just change your oil with a good motorcycle oil.
Mobil 1, Amsoil, Valvoline, Lucas, Royal Purple, etc, motorcycle V-Twin.

So do you think I can get by without needing to spend the money on flushing Duke ? Would save me some money on the extra round of oil and filter if I can just go ahead and refill with the Motul oil and new filter I already have without needing to flush.

Before you change oil put 5 OZ seafoam in engine via dipstick. Let it idle 20 min. Then change oil and filter.

What I understand, from what you are saying, is that you put regular motor oil in your bike that has friction modifier in the oil. If you have clean oil in your bike now, just change the oil out with the V-Twin oil.
This might seem crazy, but if it was me, I would Add 8oz. of ATF in with your V-Twin oil and don't worry about it. ATF won't hurt a thing, and the wet clutch will love you for it.
I wouldn't use any Moly type oil due to it is a friction modifier, just oil with enough Zinc in it.

Never heard of adding ATF to oil. Is this just for a one time flush?

You can use it for the oil duration. If I were to use it for a flush, then I'd add a quart.
About every 3rd oil change, I add 6 to 8oz of ATF. Been doing this since 2001, and with my vehicles since 1976.

ATF is a great cleaner for all kinds of things. Make a gun cleaner using ATF as one of 4 ingredients. Use it once to clean with the "bad" oil... Then when you change the oil and filter let it drip for a couple hours to get it all out if you want

ATF has anti foaming agent in it as well.

Back in the day it wasn't unusual to toss a quart in during an oil change and then drive it for a short while to help "clean" out an old oil burner. I did that once to an engine that had been neglected. Unfortunately it caused a bunch of crud to drop into the pan and plugged the sump. So in my case it worked a little "too good".
