I came here looking for someone who has experience doing this and to hear about how they did it. Not to be belittled by a person on here that seems to think they know everything. You know nothing about me yet feel you can advise me on how to better maintain my bike and critique me. Your comments on your experience are appreciated, but the rest is unacceptable.

Why are you getting so angry and hostile?
Nobody has done it because there's so much involved and it would be so expensive, it would be far better to buy a different bike.

No one's trying belittle nor critique you.

If you think a carb road str is hard to maintain...then something is wrong. I have two higher mileage 2000 Road stars..had a 2002 previously...also have a 2001 vstar 650 (two carbs)...had a 1998 RSTC 1300 V4 (4 carbs) and a 2002 A RSV 1300 (4 carbs). Had stuck float once on the 98. If you want a clean carb...remove it dissassemble ..ckean/new gaskets...jet correctly....reinstall...use 1/3 can seafoam every month on a full tank of gas and don't worry about any carb issues for at least 50k miles.

you can also get the carb pretty ckean by spraying Seafoam Deep Creep into the carb while running if you d9nt want to remove it.

you say you want convenience but want to adapt a FI system from a totally different bike to a 20 year old bike worth maybe $2k. Seems ludicrous. Trade yours and get a $3k 2008+ Roadstar if you want FI....and get 1/2 gallon less fuel tank and a $600 fuel pump to replace when it goes out.

I just took my 3 old ass Yanaha carbeuretored bikes out today from winter storage because it was 48 and sunny....all with fuel ran out of carb petcock turned off...fuel stabilizer and seafoam 8n tan on battery chargers. All started right up no issues at all...all ran fine today. Can't get much more convenient than that.

I don't think he trusts our opinions. There must be a better Roadstar site somewheres....lol.

Lpaintgrt with all kidding aside these guys here are seasoned Roadstar owners that have been on this new site along with the old clinic. There are plenty of mods for the 1600 to bleed your wallet and what is being said is the truth. There has been no one that has done the mod you describe. Some have purchased a Warrior along with their R* or Roadliner/Stratoliner or Raider. Heck Davej is probably the one on here that has had the most done to his engine (1600) and with great results. Plenty of talented guys on here to get important info from and tested correctly to function properly.

If you want concrete info on what to do with your bike, this is the site to ask questions and get real tested answers. There is no other site to my knowledge that has this info on these bikes for all years manufactured starting from 99 carb all the way up to last year EFI. JC

mine is an 07 originally 1700cc 102 cu in now 1810cc 110 cu in. For what he wants to do it would be easier to retrofit a Warrior engine and components onto a silverado frame. It would give the FI from a warrior but would be more $$ and trouble than just buying a 08 or newer R*.
I am still waiting for someone with a 08 or newer R* to go big bore and having FI.

When going big bore it all ends up the same regardless of what you start with.
