  • HSR42 TPS mod

So while my wife and I were in Cabo for 2 weeks I shipped my HSR42 off to Duke in NM and had him add on a TPS. I haven't tried it out yet but I'm sure it will work just fine! He got the TPS for me, made the bracket assembled and shipped it back. He found me a deal on the TPS sensor and I was into it for around $120 with paying for shipping both ways. Check it out...

You will get some argument from certain people that are really good at setting up a CV carb, but I feel they are snappier off the bottom, flow more air/fuel and are simpler to tune effectively. Mikuni claims higher HP, but I've never dynoed one but seat of the pants I think they do add some HP and are snappier when you crank it on.

That is nice! I put two 42’s on my bike but went back to the cv because the bike did not like to idle. It was all over the place when you got off the throttle. The cv carb works awesome so I’m sticking to it.

No problems for me with idling, but I do adjust it here and there and have it hanging just behind my air cleaner to make it simple to find.

i just swapped out my CV to an HSR42. def. does feel like a nice performance upgrade (seat of your pants) and i like the simplicity of it. yes, idle adjustment is very sensitive, and am still trying different Pilot Mixture screw settings. Still getting somewhat of a POP just after decel when i get back to the throttle. Thinking might need a valve adjustment. What is the reason or bennefit of adding a Throttle Positioning Sensor ?

It adjusts the timing to match the RPM's. It improves on the 42 even more.

Why do you think you need to adjust the valves?
You can get rid of that popping with a mixture adjustment.

The tps regulates the ignition timing, without it your timing reverts to wot.............

                  Thank you MikeyC.
gary1717, the TPS controls the ignition timing curve throughout the RPMs.

Jaybo, It looks like he did a really nice job rigging up your TPS!! How does one acquire one of these?

If interested, PM me. You would have to mail your carb to me to install and a-line time it to the throttle shaft.

Can dyna 3000 tuner remove need for tps with aftermarket carb?

It can but it will run in a less aggressive timing curve. Best to run a TPS even with the Dyna 3000.

Nice, Good job! It shows your good fabricating skills. I like to see other people's work and designs.
When I look at other bikes that has been modified, it sometimes gives me ideas and inspirations to do some creative work on my own bikes.
Thank you for sending pictures of your work. Very COOL!

Should make about 20 of those brackets and sell them on here and FB! Looks fantastic

The bracket isn't a problem, Problem is having to cut a slot on the throttle shaft, timing and coupling it to the TPS. If a person could that, they should be able to make their own bracket.

Duke . I have everything thought out . The air damper axis is pulled out . The turner sharpens the M5 internal thread . A bolt with a M5 thread with a round head is taken and cuts are made with a dremel . Look at the photo .

More photos . A sawn bolt is screwed into the axle and a hole is drilled for the PIN .
