  • HSR42 - any other solutions to the TPS fabricating?

Read the thread about fabricating the TPS module and doesn't look fun for me. I see there is the VOES but a little spendy.. Any other solutions?

When Curt helped me with mine, we adapted the TPS from my old CV.

I am running a 108ci big bore with HSR 42. No TPS installed. Having no issues. The bike runs great.

Didn't take any at the time. Next time I pull the tank I'll snap a few.

I did the TPS mod and it wasn’t nearly as bad as it looks. Just used a little bit of 1/8” ish flat bar stock (aluminum) and took my time. Turned out good the first time. That was years ago but it wasn’t something I remember being bad at all.

If I remember right, The Dyna 3000 doesn't use the signal from the TPS.
                  Gotta research that again.

I found this and I guess if you want the tps sensor to work. You have to change the wiring for it?

but does it do anything with the timing?

The VOES doesn't look that expensive now that I have researched it some more right around $50 or a bit more, just need to fugure out the model numbers to vacuum level. Is there a specific model of HSR42 that I need?

The same here. I rode it for 2 seasons hard, not a problem. Even started it one cold day when it was 42F and rode it for a while. No lag when doing hold shots for fun and giggles.

Roadiedude made a billion of those tps brackets years ago. I could see if he still has some. Think he wanted like $25 or so.

Hi, The ECU in harleys and RS are programed to have a built in timing curve that is designed to operate in a certain way based on the sender, ie VOS and TPS, as the VOS is a switch and the TPS is a varister, i am of the conclusion that the VOS will only send the RS ECU from one end of its scale to the other, as the RS ECU is turned up like a volume, via the TPS, whereas the harley ECU has preprogramed curves that are switched between via the VOS.
This is my understanding of how they both work after some research.
I will do some tests when the weather allows to acually see what is happening with the timing using both units.
Many people report different things but i cannot find anyone that has actually done a measurement of the timing, just seat of the pants feel, which may be causing detonation that nobody hears, especialy with load pipes.

I dont mean to sound rude, i just want to help people from harming their motor
Sometimes it takes a whole tank of gas before i can think straight
