  • choke knob?

OK, I did a fuel pump relocate to under the seat on my 03 Midnight and everything fit and works fine. Any suggestions where to put the choke now that there is no bracket on the left side. Any suggestions would help. Thanks. Reddog

I made a very simple bracket using a 1" long piece of angle aluminum bolted to the bracket the fuel pump used to bolt to. Others have mounted it off of the rear tank bolt I believe.

Yamaha sells a bracket that mounts on the tank bolt and I think it is only about $3.Yamaha part number 4tr-2637G-00

That's the stock bracket for the V Star 650 which some use to move the choke.
Works fine & pretty easy to slap on there.
It's only $4.29 retail brand new from Yamaha.
I wouldn't even bother looking for a used one at that price.

I think it would have to go on the left side so you don't bend the cable to tight.

Left side. You may have to pull the carb out of the boot far enough to rotate the brass elbow at the carb up, so the Enricher cable runs over the top of the rear rocker cover.

Mines on the left , very rear under tank. Got to reach under your leg to shut it off when warmed up.

The stock bracket is easily modifiable by shortening and rebending it. I reused the stock bracket in that manner for all 3 of mine. Took just a little time with a hacksaw and table grinder. The end result is it is up high, just under the tank, and sticks out just a bit farther, making it a very easy reach to either start, or push in after getting under way.

OK but you know the rule about telling us something without pics.

I like that!!! You don't loose the engine mount bracket like so many guys take off when going pumpless.

I’m not sure why they’d take the engine mount bracket off? The pump bracket is completely separate.

That sounds kinda silly. Hopefully they’ll read this, and run right out and put it back on.

A few guys here (self included) have used the assembly from a Yamaha 650 V-Star. Bolts onto the rear tank bolt on the left.

ID:	113592 I I relocated the fuel pump to the right side cover that's my hard line going to the fuel pump I'm not a big fan of sending rubber across hot jugs. It looks old school it's just a copper ized steel brake line. It's great for fuel line cuz it's really easy to bend. I guess I could paint it black Someday or not

....but yet using plastic zip ties as hose clamps?

I used a lock hasp, u-clamp to mount my choke knob. Had to drill and tap in the head bracket for the screws to mount the clamp. This has worked great on both of my bikes.
