    Good.
When the subject of using the Enricher slightly after the bike has been sitting for an hour or so comes up, like a lunch stop or visiting a friend, some like to pull it about half out, just to start the bike. You can usually push it back in, in 20 seconds or less.
When the bike is hot, the inside of the manifold will dry out. Just that little bit of sweetener helps to get over the initial dry start.

Just wanted to say thanks to all who offered advice, finally got the carb rejetted and plugged the AIS, runs great, no previous issues or new ones, open the throttle and instant response, no backfiring, haven't had to use the choke to start it up after running for awhile, went with 175 main & # 40 pilot jet, thanks again to each of you.

Always best to start with the simple fixes first. I have an 06 with aftermarket true duals and my AIS is still intact and I have no issues with backfiring. Work on the jetting first, and if all else fails, you can try removing the AIS. Also, you can check out my profile for my jetting.

Not the same as a “pierced nipple”.

I’ll second the advice to remove the AIS if it is still installed on the bike.
The vacuum port Shores is talking about is on top of the intake manifold behind the carb. It’s a small brass nipple. Plug it some how. A rubber cap. A hose with a bolt in the end, or my personal favorite, soldering the end of the tube shut.

Yes. N224.103 in this case a #40, is the proper Mikuni Pilot jet.

One more question, is N224.103-40 the correct part.

When I replaced my exhaust my bike backfired and never did before, I found a leak at the head so I doubled up the gaskets (used the new gaskets and the old ones). That cured my backfire, then I removed ais because I already ordered the parts.

The preferred jetting for a 1700 with exhaust AND intake mods is a 175 main, 40 pilot, needle in the 4th clip, and around 2.25-2.5 turns out.

Of course this can vary slightly.

    First, from Dallas.

Second, take the time to fill out your profile. It helps us a lot to know the state of your bike before offering advice that may not be appropriate.

With an aftermarket exhaust, you should also remove the AIS if it hasn't been already. The stock setup is designed to not backfire. Aftermarket is not.
Is your air breather stock? This will impact what your jetting needs to be. Please provide more information!!!

Correct Jet & Pilot size for 06 RS

Added performance true duals, seems to be running a little rough, deceleration backfire etc., sure I need to rejet the carb now, suggestions as to sizes would be greatly appreciated.
