  • Freedom performance fishtails and carb adjustments

    Hi there!I have a RS 1999, bike runs greate before i am installed a Freedom performance true dual exhaust fishtails, bike have a HC.I am going to the 2 diferent servises but none of them didnt fix the problem.At start my carb haved a 195 main jet, and 40 pilot, thats good working with previous but very bad with fishtails pipes.Than i am install a 175.5 main and 55 pilot, runs good but at start of opening throttle have loss of torque(Maybe some one have the same pipes and HC, what jets are you used?One man told me that I should throw away the charger and use a OEM air filter and that must working good, please share your thoughts about thisThank you!

    need more info about your jetting. What brand jet kit, what groove on the needle the clip is in and what brand jets you are using. That would be a good start. If you can answer those questions we can probably get it running pretty easy 1 thing I can tell you now is the pilot is too big regardless of anything else.

      Hello! Sorry for being away for so long, I'm from Ukraine, circumstances don't always allow me to get to the garage, if you know what I'm talking about Finally I installed the stock air filter, the main jet 175(modificated from the 165 stock, and replaced the pilot jet 55 with a 35(stock), the quality screw of the mixture set on 5.The stock air filter has greatly improved the engine performance and good torque. but when i close the throttle I have a strong enough engine braking.Before, it idled confidently and did not actually brake the engine.could it be the incorrect setting of the pilot jet?

      Do you have an adjustable needle or a 1 groove needle? With a 1600 use a 167.5 mainjet, 37.5 pilot jet needle clip in the 4th groove down from the flat end and pms at 2 1/2 turns out.

    You would be wise to also get rid of the hypercharger. It's much easier to tune the carb with either the standard air intake or a universal KN or a Barrons big air kit. Give Dave what he asked for and he will definitely help you.

      I haven’t had any problems with the hyper charger intake but do you think my gas mileage would improve if I went back to stock intake? Once in awhile I get a backfire after shutting down, after idle, I’m wondering if that may be the cause or just unburnt fuel in the carb. Hey, also quick question. What would you suggest for a gas additive to clean out the carb. Not that it’s needed but mainly for winter storage and clean gas to prevent carb build up? I’ve heard seafoam is a good option but frankly I don’t have a clue. Thanks

        You need to answer Dave’s questions above. He’s the carb guy. Use Seafoam or Techron Concentrate Plus.
