Fuel Injector/Throttle Body removal/cleaning steps

I’ve searched thoroughly on this site and cannot locate a thread or details on how to physically remove the fuel injectors and clean them? I had rust in my tank and a gummed up fuel pump that has since been repaired however the bike won’t start and believe fuel is not getting past the injectors. I’ve got the tank off but don’t want to dig into them without knowing what I’m doing in there. Thanks much. -Rob

Give it a shot of starting fluid. If it starts then you will know for sure it is a fuel issue. I haven't worked on a FI R* fuel system so I have no advice on how to remove and clean them.

I've not done it on the bike. But on some cars I've worked on the injector is just bolted in and uses a rubber o-ring for a seal. From the manual it looks like there are 4 bolts holding maybe a metal fuel rail that the injectors slide into. Both ends of the injectors appear to be sealed with o-rings. Remove electrical connectors, unbolt fuel rail and slide everything apart.

I agree with Dave and use some starter fluid first. Once the tank is off you will see the fuel rail and the two injectors. They're hard to get to so you'll have to remove a bunch of crap to get them out. You don't read anything on this forum about them because they never usually cause problems. You're only the second or third person in 10 years who I've read about having a problem with a fuelie.

You really would be doing yourself a favor by getting a used factory service manual. Cheap enough on eBay. Mine came with a few fingerprints on it, but very useable and covers all the fuel injection stuff.
