  • Going pumpless and I have a couple of questions...

Decided to ditch pump. Ordered the grizzly needle seat and clear line to check float height. Pulled mesh gas filter the runs inside the gas line before the carb. Running K&N filter and Barons jet kit.

After removing the pump mounting bracket where do you mount the choke cable?

Did you run the same electric pump gas filter in-line or do go with something a wee bit smaller so it doesn’t look so ungainly? Is there a specific metered flow or micron size filtration gas filter that would be best for gravity flow?

I searched around but couldn’t find any suggestions.

I didn't eliminate my pump but i did mount the choke to the tank bolt , i got a choke mount bracket from a vstar 650 and moved the choke to the same place its mounted on 650's, its real easy to reach it now while riding, no more bending over the tank and losing site of the road

I had mine adjusted so it pulled itself in as I rode and bike warmed up, did have to give it the final little push to make sure it was seated a little ways up the rode.

Bought this to shield the fuel line between the cylinders.

Remove petcock screen as well... Can use inline filter (not the stock one). Vent cap is good idea.. Eliminate roll over valve is good idea. I have mounted enricher cable (using vstar 650 stock choke bracket) to the top right factory bolt hole for stock air box And have also mounted down below idle.. Pics attached

Did you prefer one method over the other after trying both? The V Star bracket looks more "OEM" IMHO.

Have to "coil" the enricher cable up and around carb... Tight fit... I think it impairs enricher cable movement a bit but definitely works. Having it down by idlenis more convenient and operates mor smoothly for me.

I also went the V-Star set-up, cheap and easy. Left on the petcock screen, got rid of the inlet screen, no in-line filter, Grizz valve, vented gas cap. Have had no problems with that system. Do plan on getting a Pingle petcock, but mainly cause my OEM one is getting stiff.

I rebuilt the petcock this morning since I had the tank off and empty. Replaced o-ring and smiley face rubber diaphragm. Now I am leak free when I shut off the valve! I hated that it leaked every time I shut it off doing fuel work.

No filter! I thought about it but wasn’t sure.

what about the pilot jet? Can I stay stock going gravity or need to replace the stock to 37.5?

Venting the gas cap was the first thing I did. Super easy.

Don you have open air cleaner or stock? Might as well grab a $60 K&N ra066v air cleaner and Barons jet ket and do that as well (if you have aftermarket exhaust). If you have stock exhaust and air cleaner assembly I wouldn't thin you would have to rejet

Barons kit and K&N oval. I have what I think are Yamaha stock Silverado exhausts. Stamped Yamaha. Slash tips. No crossover pipe tho. Look different to me. I painted them black

With stock exhaust I honestly don't know how the jetting should be? As far as the part number for bracket I don't thin that's it. I have found them used on ebay.
