  • Oh oh!!!

    I was trying to position the accelerator pump nozzle/jet and damaged it.
    I looked all over the internet and cannot seem to find a replacement or even any information on how to replace it.
    What now?

      Trying to position it? What’s that mean?

      If you were trying to redirect the stream by bending it, because you’re experiencing a lean condition, you took the wrong route.

      I’m not seeing it in the parts list, so I’m sure it’s not a separate item.

          If you look to the right in that photo, on the outside of the carb there is a small brass plug.
          I imagine that I would have to remove that plug and insert the replacement through that hole. It’s likely interference fit through there. Then I’d have to machine a new plug and plug it.
          the problem is I cannot find the part.

            The plug just seals the passageway that was drilled during manufacturing the carb. Drills cannot make turns in drilling passageways, so they drill from another direction from the outside and plug it so the fluid is directed to its intended destination.

            example:





            The spray bar is press fit into that passage from the throat side. There are no replacements as it isn’t a wear part

            You didn’t respond as to why an adjustment was warranted.

              I assumed that’s what the plug was there for but are you sure the nozzle is interference fit from the throat side and not through that hole?

              I had a set of needle nose pliers on it trying to aim it at the needle to break up the spray and squeezed too hard.
              not that it matters at this point. It’s damaged and I’m going to have to figure something out now

                Why would you think you needed to break up the spray? Ive never heard if anyone doing that to a carb on a bike before..was it running badly before all of this?

                  As it was, that intermittent stream of fuel is well atomized way before it reaches the cylinders to be burned.

                  Another case of tinkeritus.

                  Either way, it sure won’t be coming back out the plugged side

                    and if there is a flange or a spigot of some kind on that nozzle then it would have to go in that side.
                    and it’s certainly doable.
                    If I have the nozzle and it needs to be installed in that direction, I would drill and pull the plug, install the new nozzle and then machine and install a new plug.

                      I would personally look for a stock used carb for
                      $50-100 and not do any more damage/time investment on your carb. No need to reinvent the wheel...clean it new gaskets/rebuild kit and jet it...done

                        I didn’t think I could get one that cheap.
                        searched eBay and didn’t see anything at all.
                        I’ll keep looking though.
                        if I can get one that cheep then I’ll certainly do that.
