New bars no start

  • New bars no start

    So guys I just got done wiring up my 16 inch bars wired inside clamped them to the bike plugged them in and three things happened
    1. right side blinker blinks faster than left
    2. hit the thumb kick and nothing... the head light dims slightly
    3. break light don’t work
    all else works well I think can’t check the kill be cause the thumb kick don’t work. Any ideas?

    Ok so my fuck up had four wires where in the wrong spot but still have the fast blinker on the right side

      Just did mine also . Had no Headlight , Tail Light ,Dash Lights , Left Signal . Found Headlight receptacle JACKED ! New part , new Headlight fuse , all is well . Found out after testing EVERY CIRCUIT possible that the only thing JACKED was what I in my " expertise " modified .

        I’m wondering if it’s just a bulb. The front right looks dim but still works so I’ll pick up some at the parts store today or tomorrow and see if that fixes it

            it took me the better part of a day to do mine painstakingly slow process, in line splices, all offset so there is no bulge in one area, soldered each splice. heat shrinked each, and then the whole harness when done. DEBURRING WHERE THE WIRE ENTERS THE BAR is a must, one small piece of metal stickin out and your fubarred. you can use a n ohm meter to troubleshot it.

              I’m going to have to look into this ohm reading. No lie the only thing I know about ohms is car audio the lower the better and how to wire subs lol

                Not to cause you anymore issues but your ohms statement is a little off also. Speaker impedance is listed as a 4ohm, 8ohm ect. but if you do not have enough load on your amp you will blow it up pretty quickly. An 8 ohm amp is designed to have 8 ohms load on it. They will usually run at 4 but you are stressing it. If you have an 8 ohm amp and put 2-4 ohm speakers (2 ohm load) on the same channel the amp will burn up.

                  Yes but a lot of amps will Handel a lower ohm set up I’ve done it for years like right now I have two 4ohm dvc subs each wired down to 2ohm on two channels and I know guys who run competitions wired down to 1/2 ohm at 10-70,000 watts

                    But anyway lol dose anyone know where I can get the wire ohm readings? Are they in my chiltion?

                      There should be zero ohms on a wire.

                          If you're checking for a pinched wire causing a short to ground then you will be checking those wires to ground using the ohms meter. Place the positive lead of your meter on your wire at its connection point and place your neg lead on a bare spot on the frame....the meter should show no reading,
                          if there is no short. Any resistance reading would be a short.
