Am i reading this correct you can use a Ford truck relay on a road star? If that's the case i have 3 1990 trucks in m y yard and another fried relay on my bike......

Did you buy OEM or cheapo 12 dolla relay? My starter relay was OEM and around 65 bucks.

You can but you need a good OEM relay to activate it. See the diagram above

Those old solenoids go back to the ‘60’s so there should be no problem finding one.

They were usually mounted on an inner fender close to the battery. This was before they were mounted atop the starter to engage the gear.

Thanks Dave. What model/year Ford relay did you use?
People at autoparts stores don't know anything about their inventory anymore.
I can see the part right in front of them, but they have to spend 5 minutes on a computer entering information to find it.

Oops! Sorry Ron. My starter is fine. It's the starter relay that's beginning to worry me.

That still uses the oem relay to switch the Ford relay but hardly any amperage goes thru the oem relay so it should last forever. Also mounted under the seat for easy access if needed and can purchased at any auto parts store if needed even on a weekend when the bike dealership is closed. I'm sure if you wanted to use a different relay other than OEM to switch the Ford relay you could. Mine wasn't bad when I went with the Ford relay so I didn't spend any time to see what wiring needed to be modified to use a different relay.

Hey guys, does anyone remember what has to be done to a Warrior starter to use it on a Roadstar?

While I'm asking... what's the difference between ;

Raider Starter relay
