I got a tach for my 2005 Road Star 1700 and need to know how to wire it up. It has 2 wires 1 red 1black than it has 3 wires 1 is Black 1 is Green and 1 is yellow with a black strip. Is there anyone that can help. Dam site will not let me post a picture, wants a URL what ever that is.

I was just thinking that as well. That’ll be the next thing I try

it should be at around 950 rpm. I'll bet it smooths it out and the needle will be steady.

I adjusted the idle. I like it, reminds me of a canned muscle car tach

wow it is still jumping around a bit. The bike sounds better though. It looks like it smooth out when it revs. Does it smooth when riding?

I haven’t had the bike on the road yet this season

If the tach isn't attached to the bars (holding it in your hand next to the bike) is it smooth or does it still bounce?

Good question, I didn’t think of that. Not sure I want to take it off to check just yet but I’ll keep that in mind!

ACEMUSTANG2002 yeah just thinking about if the gauge itself is that sensitive to vibration or if there is an electrical issue causing it.
