Ground wire routing

I have a ground wire hanging from the bottom of the bike, 2004 Yamaha Roadstar Midnight there is one at the battery that is short and attached to the I think oil tank, however there is on on bottom of bike if I can include pictures. ALSO I have a no charge issue for some time and while I was doing a shock change I found this wire dangling with about 12" to spare starts at the battery and goes thru the loom and then I dont know Need Help these photos should help out what I am talking about the bike did start and run with out this wire connected and it did not charge however I do not know if the issues are connected???Speak

I don't think that stock. Maybe somebody had an amplifier and they decided to ground it somewhere under the bike? Check with previous owner to see if he had any sort of electronics on there

When you say ground wire is the wire connected to the negative side of the battery? And is the wire the size of a battery cable?

yes it connects to the battery, it is a 10 gauge and it was dragging on the ground I believe it is stock since I am the only owner of the bike it has 16K on it, I was unable to drive it for 5 years, but trying to give it new life and mods

its a ground wire because it was dragging on the ground while connected to the ground of the battery, I am going to attach it to the front of the engine some where to be a starter ground, this bike has hi compression and was built to be an 1800, I did back in 2008 it has 124 HP and is awesome to ride, however I was updating the exhaust, the shock, the charging system and was replacing the rear fender and found this wire dragging but never saw it before goes thru the factory loom from the battery box down the middle of the bike I will just find /make a home if know one knows what this 15 year old wiring looks like Speak

Are you also saying that your electrical system does not charge your battery?

Are you saying that you are the original owner and that you had all the work done to make it a big bore 110 cubic inch motor? Where on earth did you get a dyno of 124 horsepower at? That's about 30 horsepower more than I've ever seen on any roadstar build in my life. What parts were sued on the big bore kit?

Where exactly does the black wire originate from? I see where it's hanging down but where is it attached to the bike or battery at?

there are like 3 wires in that are under, one goes to side stand, one goes to starter, , did u do batt cable upgrade, and leave the old one in place?
