  • Back brake blows starter fuze

I just painted my bike in order to pull the brake light and turn signals I had to cut the back brake light no biggie right just solder or this time I didn't solder just twisted each one and wrapped in electric tape.

I did remove the foot rest when painting it twice first time no issue this time when I press the brake it stalls my bike and blows the starter fuze.

Easy fix I assumed pulled my back fender plate down rewrapped in electric tape threw a new fuze in same results .

Prior to painting worked fine so i am at a loss here

Not sure if I've got any good advice, wiring can be a head scratchier. Are there any other things not working such as signals? Does it matter which brake you use (front or rear) when it blows?

Since you were riding this all worked before. I've not taken the lights off my fender but have a new OEM brake light that was in a pile of parts, it looks like it should just unplug similar to signal lights etc. So really shouldn't be any need to be cutting wires... Anyway, back to the issue at hand. Not sure if a pic of what you're working with would help identify anything, but it might help the brain trust here if someone sees something that doesn't seem right.

You gotta get a manual....you absolutely positively never ever under any circumstances whatsoever have to cut brake wiring to remove anything. Ever.

just like your carb fiasco....making a ton more work for yourself for no reason other than impulsiveness and stubbornness.

A couple of questions....What are you calling the "Starter Fuse"? Are you blowing the Main Fuse? The brake lamp is powered by the Signal fuse. Does the tail lamp illuminate? That is powered by the Headlight Fuse. See the attached photo to help identify which fuse is blowing. Since you don't blow a fuse when you use the front brake we can rule out the socket and bulb. I assume the brake light works with the front brake? Double check that.since both front and rear brake switches share the same circuit. If your wire going to the brake light was grounded it would blow the Signal Fuse whenever either front or rear brake was applied.

I also Hit the visible frame and engine bay with a high temp clear coat. I'm really happy with the results
