  • Fixing hyper flash without losing self cancelation?

    One of the first mods I did on my 03 R* was switch all my bulbs to LED to brighten them up. And of course, ended up with hyper flash. I have a new relay to fix that, but of course it means losing the self cancelation feature. My thoughts: remove the two wires from stock relay, T in a wire for the power so that power still goes to the stock relay, and the new relay, connect in remaining wire to new relay only. My thinking is this will allow the stock relay to work for the self canceling, but allow the new relay to fix the hyper flash. Has any one tried this method, and what were the results?

    There is a way of making the OEM relay to stop the hyper flash but, it requires opening the relay and installing a
    33 ohm 2 watt resistor.

        The way I look at the hyper flash is that if it annoys me, its going to annoy others and they will be more likley to see me. Seems like a positive to me!

          UPDATE: New relay installed with power still getting to the oem relay. Wasn't able to keep the auto cancelation unfortunatly. Will be looking into this further.

            This will work on the R* as well.
            Fix for the fast flash rate you will get if you replace turn signals and other lights with LED. This is a write up I found on another forum and will attempt...

              I agree with Jay. I have a tendency to make fast or sudden lane changes.
              The quick flash is an upgrade.
              without it maybe other motorists will see half a flash before I make my move.
              With it the indicator light will flash at least a couple times.
