  • Newly installed grips problem

This past summer I had the dealer install Kuryakyn grips on my 2014 R*. As it sits in the garage this winter the left grip can slide right off the bar... the dealer wrapped the handlebar with electrical tape and then there is glue residue which seems to have never dried. Is this the common practice for installing grips? What ar some remedies? They were specific for the roadstar...
    Thanks

Find a new Mech. Wrong size or no clue. Check out on U tube videos, this is something you can do yourself.I would ask for my money back since they tried to kill you.

The package was marked for my bike, do you think they are just the wrong size? I wish I never got them now, would have just had the stock leather wrapped...

The glue on the electrical tape sounds like the issue, clean it off and use the proper grip adhesive.

I have the ISO grips. The clutch side grip fit snug, it came with a small tube of glue. You just drizzle it down inside the grip and quickly slide it on. I test fit it first and put a price of tape on the bar and the grip to have a reference point when installing the grip, you don't have much time after the glue gets some air to it! Mine will not move!! I'm with Roadiemort, go back to the shop and have them fix it at their cost not yours!

I'm not sure I would take my bike back to that shop. I don't trust "professional" motorcycle mechanics in general. Their incompetence and/or ignorance can kill you, your bike, or both. No offense to any pro mechanics out there, I'm sure there are some good ones.

Unfortunately I purchased the bike as new leftover this past season. I painted the bike and went to Americade, while there, I hit the first service mileage and found the nearest dealer for service. While there I found these on the shelf and had them installed. Needless to say I am nowhere near close enough to go back nor would I want to. I think I will get the proper glue and do it myself. The glue residue on there is a brownish color, obviously not the correct adhesive.

Get Grip glue and follow the directions but first remove the tape. That is ridiculous.

Whoever installed your grips is a dumbfuck. Clean bar real good....with rag and brake cleaner....bare bar no tape or residue at all....put some grip glue/hi strength spray on glue/superlue inside grip.....push on and make sure it's all the way seated and straight....then leave it the he'll alone for 12 hours.

You’ll need to clean out the spooge they left in the grip’s tube, as well, for full effect of the new glue.

Yes, there is also glue funk in the grip as well.... I REALLY can't take incompetence.
