  • Roadwing shock is amazing!

I had the pleasure of meeting Jason (smokescreens) and have him install a Roadwing shock on my 06 Roadstar. It was a quick install and even more so because it turns out my bike has a lowering kit on it which helped with ease of install. I was not aware of this but would help explain he issues with bottoming out I have been having compared to my V-star 650. I am still tinkering with the RAP to see if I can live with the lowering kit. I may have to find a stock setup if I can’t. It’s only 1.5” but it’s enough to be cautious in turns.

Thanks again for for the quick and amazing work. Also for all the other information you shared.

    Thanks!
    Matthew

I highly recommend the Race Tech Springs in front, set for your weight. I would also go for the Gold Valve emulators too, Everything I've read those will make a huge difference as well. Springs and an oil change are pretty easy and a perfect time to check out your neck bearings as well.

Sure works for my '01 and I have my Roadwing connected to my Flipped Relay Arm for a comfortable 1 1/2" lowered ride. and 15wt oil in the front.

I was looking on a Goldwing site a few days back and the discussion was about how their rear shock was underrated for the weight of the Goldwing

Stock GL1800 Goldwings are also a 900# bike. Quite a bit more than the average Roadstar.

Actually no. We’re going to Pine Knob tonight to see Zombie so we’ll see what she thinks.

What those guys said Jason. Thanks so much for transforming my bike.

I still need to install mine. Everyone says it’s easy, but I still refer to all the parts of my bike as thingys, dohickeys, and “that thing right there”. So, it might be a challenge for me.

You have a pretty fair amount of members in texas. Maybe they can help you out if you put it out there

Jason Woody AKA Smokescreens is a very close friend of mine and I love my Roadwings I’ve gotten from him as well. Jason seems to put people first. You won’t ever hear me complain about Jason.. glad you like your Roadwing set-up.

thank you jake. i do my best to get people the right stuff int the right time frame for a fair price and normally people are pretty happy with it.

im just mad that i cant still sell them for $150 like i did at the start. but after all i stopped counting after 300 shocks so pickings are a bit slimmer than before

Ive seen you mention that you’re having more difficulty finding parts. So what are you selling them for now?

Quick tip: I was *just* out in the garage putting my shock back together, after having it rebuilt, and I noticed that when Jason drilled the new holes on the bottom fork, he drilled one larger than the other, so the dogbone bolt only goes through one way. I mention this, because if I didn't know any better and was making my own Roadwing, I'd probably drill both the same size.

Can you get these roadwing shocks ready to just drop in? My AZ Roadstar needs a new rear shock, but I don't have the time or tools out there to modify the shock. Need something that I can take out of the box, and put right into the bike. Otherwise was looking at a Progressive.

If it is a "Roadwing" that is the name given to the already modified Goldwing shock. It can be installed alone or with a pump or RAP to adjust preload. A Roadwing is bolt on ready.

That's going to depend on which RAP you use. There is no 'standard' RAP to use for reference.
