Spring Seat for 99 road star

Hey! Looking to find a simple kit, all I can find online are kits for the V star or bolt. I am considering buying one of those and trying to modify but I have to believe there is a good kit for the road star as well. I have found one and its $400 and its sort of big. All the other V Star kits are about half of that in price and look more of what I am looking for. Has anyone else done this?

I would call Mother Road and see if they don't have the plans for a Roadstar. They may have just quit making them but may resurrect them if asked.

BTW, take some time to fill in your profile information. You never know, someone may know of a shop near you that can help.

I actually wrote them an email asking about if the kit they had would fit if i modified it or if they had something that would work but they said they did not. I will fill out the profile for sure. I can make a seat pan if i need to, just trying to save a little time.

You are probably not going to find a kit for your bike. I liked the JP Cycle seat, I think it would look good on there, but only if you remove the big brace that runs across the top of the frame behind the seat. Otherwise, it's gonna look kind of funky with that big hunk of metal sticking out there.

most of us cut off the horns when installing these seats

The hairpin springs do not have any give in them.
The behive springs are much much better.
The Yamaha seat plate is the best deal.
But DO NOT pay $202 for it!! Cheeeeesssshhhh!!!!

I have used the Yamaha BOLT seat base plate and it is low cost as well.

i've had good luck "give wise" with both styles, but I did learn to get medium duty springs and not the heavy duty ones that most people sell. But, I too prefer the beehive style.
