  • Which way?

A few years back I got a billet cover for my, well, I don't know what it's called actually, on an old H-D cone motor or Sportster it would be the points cover. The retaining screws (2) are on the inside, and I don't wanna take it apart yet. My question is: how are the screws aligned, horizontally or vertically. I ask this 'cause I'm gonna get some engraving or chemical etching done on it before I put it on, and I want it to be facing the right direction. Thanks in advance.

That's the one with Yamaha printed on it. I was always tempted to turn it around so that it would be upside down.

It looks like they are vertical. Anyone else? Anyone who's actually been in there and remembers? The diagram looks vertical but if it's at some slight angle, what I'm gonna do is gonna look really fucked up.

Last resort put painters tape crosshair on it and take it apart to have a LQQK see.

Does seem to be off vertical center on both screws.

There is no way anyone knows the exact measurement, you need to mark the outside center with tape then take it apart to mark the amount of offset on the inside to the outside.

If someone had a spare off the bike and sent you a paper template would be the best you could hope for. Hopefully they would mark the side you look at as the face on the template.
