  • Landon Bars!!!!

I don't hang out over there, but I'll browse to see what's out there. Came across this:

This Page is for anyone to post Road Star Related Parts or Road Star Bikes for sale. Anyone posting spam will be removed and blocked. Ride Safe!

Yeah, his curve isn’t quite right and the welds don’t look the best. It’s an attempt at them but just doesn’t quite make it. And he won’t chrome them. He paints or leaves them raw.

At least he has enough respect to not call them Landon bars himself, he is getting better at the first run customers expense though lol.

Gotta remember all the bitching and whining about the price of the landon bars or chromed Landon duplicate bars. There is no available supply for either of those. I think that is a great price for what you get. if they are aluminum put some work into it yourself and polish it and it will look like chrome or at least close. have it powder coated and still have under $200 into it. everyone else that ever tried to make them and get them chromed said that the profit margin for all the work was too slim to continue making them. So hear is a good replacement for those wanting one. JMO

Smokescreens was even working on them and we haven't heard back from him so maybe he found that there was no profit in making them also.

I have a nice chrome one sitting on my desk and has been there for over 5 years now, never used but it is gonna stay right there until someday that I remove my trunk and install it. lol

Jason I kind of figure it was something like that. I think they are a lot more work than what most think they are.

Smokescreens, just wondering if you'd looked into doing your take on the Landon bars as cast aluminum rather than machined billet? Not sure what the price would be, but I'd think it's a simple enough part. Maybe harder to polish/chrome? Just a thought. Seems a waste to model it up so nice and not have it go anywhere.

It looks good... Unless you have had an original one... Then it looks like a wrecked Tonka truck that was stripped of paint.

Problem is its mild steel not aluminum and weleds look for fuck. If you bought one for $115 shipped you have to chrome on your own ($100) and that would make the welds Really obvious....

I guess then you have to spend the $300+ for one of the others and hope you can find one. If his price was higher I might think different but he has time and material into it. He has to make something. I've seen a couple other "Homemade" ones that really looked like hell but they were happy and wasn't trying to sell them. I'll bet they had close to $50 in material and a few hr's in time into those also. Alot of guys don't have the talent, tools or time that is needed to make anything let alone these.

I have both bars, and I am very impressed with mine.

Yes, It's from the first batch. Welds on the end of the pipe looks really good, and smooth.

The original pix that Jarvis posted were his mock up pix. I got one of the first batches of his "swamp" bar and all of the welds were cleaned up. I'm OCD and WAS going to clean them up more, but didn't. Mine is currently at the powder coaters with a bunch of other stuff. I'll post a pic when I get it back.

Also I believe that Jarvis was mimicking the curvature of the rear fender. IMHO, I think it flows very well

What has come to light though is the fender rack does not fit under his bar, the curved Yamaha one.

I also have one. Very happy with mine! The welds look good on mine. He said he didn't want to mimic the Landon bar so he followed the fender.

He followed the fender cause it gave him an extra bar per rolled section, about 12" required per bar good section plus your waste on each end, 5Ft. long bar would give you 4 bars at 12" plus about 6" of waste at each end depending how close the rollers are apart on his machine.

Mine came from USAFRetired from his last run eons ago.

Had I not pulled the plug and ordered it, I’d definitely be thinking about one of these. Best thing I’ve seen in years.

Sooo, total noob here. Is this purely cosmetic or is there a practical application for these bits? First thought was to aid getting the bike up on center stand, but I can't even find mine.....

Fills the holes if you remove the backrest. Gives you something else to polish.

Yup, cosmetic for sure unless you have kids you want to pull around on skateboards.

Well hell, never thought of using the bar for that. Of course with bags on it seems a bit more difficult.

It adds rigidity to the fender and the saddle bag brackets when you do not have a sissy bar.
