  • Different handlebars

    Also thinking about switching handlebars, the stock bars are really too low for me, my legs are long enough that I have to move my knee out to turn the bars against the stop

    Higher risers might help.

      That's a thought, along with the bars wanting to hit my knees on a tight turn, the low height of the stock bars causes me to ride in kind of a slouched position which causes my back to start aching after a couple hours of riding, think the risers would help that too ?...

      Unless you're about 9 feet tall there's no way stock bars - adjusted properly - should hit your knees.
      Can you post a picture of your bike straight on from the front of the bike and the bars pointing straight?

      I kind of suspect you don't really have stock bars, probably more like Beach Bars which are supposed to be super low & wide.

    I run 4" pullback risers flipped around backwards with beach bars. Works great for me.

      Looked at my bike, (03 Roadie ) wiring and clutch/throttle cables look like they would work with 4 inch, 1.5 inch back risers, but it looks like I would need a longer brake hose from the master cylinder to the junction block where it splits the flow to the front calipers, is there a longer hose available for this or is it even an issue ?.....

        Yes, It is very tight and replacing the brake hose will allow adjustment of the bars, plus 4"

          Yep, second that, contact Tim B for the hoses. I have 14" tall bars on mine with stock risers. Rerouted the electrical behind the top triple tree and got longer upper brake line, clutch cable and throttle push pull cables.
          Hey FP, did you have to replace your push/pull throttle cables and/or you clutch cable for your set up?

            Stock bars all the way to the lock shouldn't come even close to the tank much less your knees.
            Are you absolutely sure you have stock bars?
            This is what stock bars look like at full lock position.

            * This pic also shows 4" risers which are only 2" taller than stock risers.
            Even 2" lower than this won't put stock bars anywhere near the tank.

              I'm assuming they're stock bars, I bought the bike used and the previous owner didn't say anything about the bars being switched...

            this looks like the OEM custom from yammie,. at 55 clams its a steal, they made a polished aluminum, and a chrome plated aluminum, these look chrome
            they listed for 150-180 hard to find

              these will lift and pullback the bars , no recabling needed.

                Will post some pics tomorrow night, there's one that will show what I'm talking about. I'm sitting on the bike with the front wheel cut all the way to the left, the end of the left side grip is hitting the top of my leg, and the end of the clutch lever is digging into my leg, AND in the pic I'm barefoot, I normally wear boots with a 1.5" high heel, which makes things worse...

                    Well that's good to know, I assumed they were stock. Looks like I'll be in the market for different bars, these are too low for me and make my back ache after a couple hours of riding.

                      Stock bars are cheap and with 4" risers very comfortable.
