  • Transfer case to Frame Stay

    In service manual, there is no stay between transfer case and frame on the right side of the bike, just on the left. There is no stay on the right side of my bike too (i bought it used, i don't know if it has been removed or not. It is not my bike on photo attached). I saw pics of bikes with stay installed on the right side of bike. How should it be - stays on both sides or just on the left side?

    2001 shows both but different part# from left to right side.

    You guys must be in a much different time zone. It's 2:20am here in Scorpion Gulch, Arizona USA. That's why you are not getting many responses.

        i found the right stay on Silverado 2001;
        Stay 2 5GA-2137G-00-00
        This part is not present on XV1600A frame diagram. Wondering if it fits my XV1600A 2001

        There was a stay that is on a 1700 but not used on a 1600. That is probably the one.

          This stay is present on Silverado 1600 2001. The reason i want to try it is that i suspect transfer case moves a bit under torque. I'm having a problem with preciese positioning of rear wheel - the belt squeals either on accelerating when quiet on decelerating or vice versa. I know abt other possible reasons for belt squealling

            If the belt chirps on decel it is loose. Check the front pulley nut to make sure it is properly torqued. I'm sure the transfer case isn't moving. That would mean the whole engine is moving and I doubt that is happening.

              As you found out the stay was only installed on the Silverado's back then. I found that out a few months after I bought my bike so I ordered and installed one.
