  • Is anyone using this cross brace for their HD saddlebags?

Looking on ebay I came across this brace. Looking at the angle of the clamps, I'm not exactly sure where it would attach. Of course the photo he shows doesn't have it installed. It's obviously for an actual Harley using the softail brackets. The price is good though.

Looks to me like it just bolts to the vertical portion of the bag mounts, one on the right and one on the left and then it is adjustable with the bolt in the middle depending on the width of your bags.

There isn't a vertical part. 45 degree angle is probably the most vertical.

What, are you slow? It can only bolt in one spot as it has to clear the fender. Click image for larger version Name:	s-l500.jpg Views:	26 Size:	33.4 KB ID:	153190

Um, ok? What's with the hostility? I don't see anywhere that would clear the fender. The lowest point with any level of vertical angle is marked in red, and that looks even with the bottom at best, plus the brace would sit at an upward angle at that point.

It only fits on one way is my point, if you don't see this I can't help, not hostile, confused by your inability to see where it fits lol.

Also, I'm sure since it is made from metal it could be bent or twisted to suit your application since it is going on a R* not HD. The softail brackets need to be tweaked also depending on what exhaust you have and how level you want your bags. I've seen plenty that look terrible on a Road Star because the owner has no modification skills.

I don't have the actual brace pictured, but I do have softail brackets on my 02 roadie. There's not much of a height difference between the fender and the brackets.....but, I can see if the vertical mounting plates (that bolts to each of the brackets ) were tall enough, that this could work on a roadie.

I think the clearance is there to be able to use one. The sweep of the rear fender gives quite a bit of room between it and the tire, but the mounting plates probably could use some bending to line up with the angle of the brackets. Or, maybe there is enough room underneath...just eyeballing it, seems like it just might fit fine.
