  • Kickstand angle

    Hey guy!

I really hate it how much my bike leans down to the left while on the kick stand.
And i don´t wanna go center stand since i don´t run air ride.
Had a look where the stand is attached to the frame, and there is nooo way that you will bend that thing down to make the bike stand more up right.

Anyone else got a "problem" with this? Mounted kickstand from other bike maybe? What model?
I mean the Harry D´s is not even close the my angle, but they have theris stands attached in a completley different way..

This picture don´t make it fair, but i guess you can get a hint of what i mean.

I only had that problem when I went to a 21" wheel up front. The brick helped for the photo shoot lol. You could cut and weld or screw a block under the foot.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVeV8TbC9a4 Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_2011_zpsakbd888v.jpg Views:	1 Size:	285.8 KB ID:	146930

That would be my suggestion. Put something permanent under the kick stand. I like that lean angle after watching the occasional harley fall over

Well, cut and weld, yes.. But it´s chrome..?
I was thinking about making like a spacer and attach between the kickstand and the "bracket" if you get me? English wasn´t my top subject in school

turn your handle bars to the right, it will stand the bike up more. it's also easier to get on the bike.

It''s not exactly the same thing but I turn my bars to the right because it is my left knee that was rebuilt and the bike is way easier to get off of the kickstand. I generally put my left hand under the edge of the tank and lean to the right. It's a good idea to be wearing a glove on your left hand if the engine is hot, ask me how I know. I also look at the lay of the land and try to not only point the front uphill but also a little high on the left or closer to level, I don't care so much which way the parking lines are running, the bike can be a little diagonal in the space.

I mount the bike from the right side ever since my accident as I couldn’t put weight on my left foot. So now i lean forward and grab my highway bar and swing my left foot over the bike handlebars turned to the left

Nope, handle bar goes to the left, it´s all about the looks

You’re a DIY kinda guy..make or buy a kickstand extension..bolt it to the foot of the stand..you’d only need a little to raise it up.. that HD is almost vertical ..I’d be afraid one little nudge and over it goes.

Yeah, when i park it in my garage i have a piece of wood like 3-4 inches high that i place underr the stand, that makes it lean the way i want lol..
i dont it would look so nice with something that size permanently mounted

Never thought much about it but I'm fine with the lean angle myself. I automatically turn the bars to the right when parking. Maybe it's just the photo, but I agree with KFallsRider that the primer bike looks way too upright.

I have a rough sawed 2x4 I put under the stand when I'm rolling the jack under the bike. It feels funny when I do as it's so upright. Makes me think it could go over the other way without much effort.

ohno, handlebars goes to the left!
Yeah, the fatboy is very upright, and it looks really good, don´t understand why you guys here think it would fall over because of some wind? Our bikes are heavy as fuck, and even when i have my 3-4" thick piece of wood under my stand it would take ALOT to make it fall over..

I have a 50mm block of wood that I use at home, at work I have a solid rubber block under the stand

I kinda like the way it leans. If I ever have to leave it in the emergency lane at least it won't get blown over by passing semi's........LOL

I like it to, for some bikes, it depend on the style.. But mine´s a lowrider with true duals and stretched rear fender ( ass dragger ) so in this case, it looks very.. asymmetrical
AND it´s very easy to hit that sharp [email protected]*#king exhaust tip with ypur leg lol

Saw a bike in a parking lot, that the owner had taken an old handlebar riser and attached it to the underside of their kickstand. Just drilled a hole thru and bolted it on apparently. Definitely put the bike at a bit more upright angle, and looked unique.

I ended up extending my stand. And when i fiddled with it i found out that someone har put a to small pivot bolt there on my bike, witch made it really slappy.
I replaced it with a better fitting bolt, but i think it has been worn out so it didn't make it alot better.
Thats it cut it in half, found a good fitting pipe, filled it with some scrap metal and welded like a maniac

Works great! I do wait for a package with a better pre-owned one now as well tho, together with the frame part it's bolted to lol.. Don't ask me why someone even cut that of.

Here's what a 12 looks like next to a 19 Heritage. It's got more lean than Primer bike above, but I like the Roadie lean, myself.

I personally like how much the bike leans a lot to the left on the Road Star. My other bikes i use to have sat more up right and I always got nervous. Road Stars are unique compared to Honda and Harley. Yamaha went with a wider and lower stance than most comparable bikes.

Yeah, i think it looks kinda cool to, on some bikes... Depending on what style you are riding.
But with true duals, i do not like it

I am working on a 2001 R* that was hit in the front (road bars took the hit) but my kickstand now sticks almost straight out. there is no visible bending of the frame tab or anything (looked for paint cracks or distortion) no distortion on the chrome stand either.. I have no Idea how to fix it and don't wanna pull the motor to bang on it Click image for larger version

Is there any flop to it? There is a bushing in the kickstand the bolt goes through. Maybe pull the bolt out and take things apart and make sure there isn't any issues there.

I would look for tearout in the frame behind the kickstand mount or next to where it is welded to the frame with a mirror, something definitely moved.

I thought he was joking. Looks like the stand just needs to be closed

But if a collision changed the angle of the kick stand, I would be really leery of serious frame damage

there is no crack or stress to the frame. guess I could strip the paint and do a dye pen test for cracks.
it closes right where it is supposed to it just won't do the down angle

found the issue and it may even help on the other kickstand issues.. I bent the tabs on the end to change their angle
