  • Stealth / hidden air cleaner on 2003 1600?

I've seen loads of posts on other forums for right-side cleanups done on warriors... is that something we can do on a carbd roadstar?
    Something like the Churchkey vbak?
I love the look of the engine, would like to open up the view more.

Tried to Google and get flooded with warrior hits.
Tried searching here but can't seem to figure out the right set of words (I either get "too many results" or nothing.)

    Thanks

The velocity stack opens things up a bit but doesn't filter.. other than that a small K&N or a spike...haven't seen anything else....
not all those who wander are lost......

I haven't had my tank off, but looking at things from the outside, I'm not sure this would work - but I'm hoping to find something that comes close / lets me minimize everything between the V (similar to removing fuel pump to clean up the left)
I'm interested in this entirely for the vanity - not the performance.

I run the K&N RC-1624. Under $50, no additional mounting bracket needed, no leg interference, easy access to carb adjustments and opens up the view of the motor. Add a matching smaller filter below for the crank case vent and you get what you see here. You get the looks and the performance.

Did you change the stock idle jet? Thanks

Not possible on the road star. A totally different frame and tank design. Not enough room for anything like that.

I found the crank case filter at Orielly auto parts, was just a few bucks, you can find ones like it at most any car parts store or on ebay so , sorry, I don't have a part#. I did have to fabricate a mount for it but I did so with minimal resources; a really cheap mini hacksaw and some JB Weld IIRC. Several people on here have gone to this same set-up since I started running it. As far as the air breather goes, no extra mounts needed, just clamps on dirt bike style with a big hose clamp which is provided with the filter. Hard to beat this combo for looks, performance and cost, not to mention ease of access to carb adjustments. You'll have to find something to do with your idle adjuster also. It's on a flexible line so it can go most anywhere it'll reach. I left mine in the stock bottom bracket and dressed it up with a billet knob cover I found on JP Cycle it was pretty cheap too. If you scroll back up and look at that pic you can see it just below the front push rod tube. You will notice an increased volume in intake roar when you crack it WFO. I kinda like it myself.
