    have you checked or removed the screen that is located in the carb inlet tube. It is a little screen with a plastic type lip holding it in the inlet of the carb. you have to take the rubber fuel line off the carb side to see it. it actually looks like part of the carb. the screen is very fine and wouldn't take much crud to impair fuel flow. if it. if it hasn't already been removed go ahead and remove it.

      i will check the bowl and the screen tonight when I get off. this is definitely a head scratcher. I appreciate all yalls input

        yes its a head scratcher. I had the same thing happen to mine back in the early spring. I asked all the same question, got the same answers , its in the Forum somewhere. I replaced everything I could think of or buy parts for. electrical and fuel.. Finally I gave up and decided to take to the dealer. The day I took it, it ran fine (go figure). It stayed at the dealer for 3 weeks they couldn't find anything. after having it 3 weeks I said I'll come get it. Well long story short, it hasn't done it again. I even took it on a trip from South Carolina to El Paso last summer. Not even a hiccup. rode in the rain, rode in 105 heat even rode it 1100 miles straight from Ft Worth to Columbia SC Iron Butt saddle sore 1000 in 19.52 hours . haven't had a problem since. Don't know what it was or if something I changed fixed the problem but it didn't work then it did. I feel your pain !!

          To be clear, when you remove the float bowl, you need to inspect the float needle *tip*. It's rubber and can become worn over time causing it to stick in the whole, preventing enough fuel from filling the float bowl quickly enough. The wear can be as little is this:

            Hey guys finally found the problem. It ended up being the main relay. It controls the fuel pump and that part of the relay was going out. Replaced it and its been fine and dandy since

              I had fuel pump relay problems and bypassed the expensive OEM relay with a small relay I got from Eastern Beaver. It's triggered by a wire that previously powered one of the horns. Pump Is fed power directly from the battery, and the relay triggers when the ignition is on. Works fine, but the rollover switch is no longer functional to shut the pump off in case of mishap. I think that's the purpose of the relay, to give the protection of shutting off the pump if needed. I carry hose and tools to go pumpless if it ever acts up again.

                Unless you have a fuel injected bike the Road Star doesn't have a rollover switch.
