How to use Seafoam properly

What is the proper way to add seafoam into the gas tank on a Yamaha road star? The bottle tells you how much to add but it doesn't tell you actually how to do it. On a cold engine? Hot engine? Or can I just add it while the bike sits overnight?

Can instructions are right on, only takes a little for routine cleaning.
When my bike has been sitting for months I'll dump 1/4 to 1/2 can into a full tank of fuel as a 'shock treatment' to eliminate as much water from the system as possible.
Does no harm and it blows all the boogers out pretty well.

Hot, cold, doesn't make any difference. You're adding it to the gas tank. It makes it's way thru the fuel system as you run the engine. Just add it, run thru the tank of fuel, and then refill the tank. Repeat seafoam if you wish, or skip a tank and then treat. Doesn't matter if the bike sits overnite, or sits for a month.

seafoam is just another gimmick additive, oil and glycol/alcohol. the new STP, techroline by exon is a better cleaner, use non ethanol gas and preservative for extended stays.

Seafoam is good stuff. That "gimmick" has been running almost 100 years strong. Just saying...
